Our Wood Shack social enterprise is looking to recruit an Assistant Manager.

In the absence of the Wood Shack Manager the role of the Wood Shack Assistant Manager is to oversee the day to day running of the Wood Yard, including customer service, health & safety and admin processes. You will be managing a team of core staff and clients on one of our supported programmes, delegating tasks to them and ensuring they receive relevant training and development.


Main Duties & Responsibilities 

Wood Yard Tasks

  • Manage the day to day running and maintenance of the Wood Yard
  • Oversee the pricing, labelling and stock control of wood products
  • Continual improvement of the Wood Yard infrastructure
  • Ensure the safe running of the Wood Yard, by carrying out regular risk assessments and implementing improvements where needed

Customer Tasks

  • First point of call for customers queries
  • Coordinate customer orders and deliveries, ensuring deadlines aremet and accurate records are maintained
  • Deal with customer complaints

Staffing / Line Management Tasks

  • Oversee the rota, authorising annual leave and liaising with HR regarding sickness/ absence/ lateness
  • Delegate staff duties on a daily basis
  • Inform the People Support team of staff wellbeing concerns
  • Oversee staff training and development, including health and safety toolbox talks

Office Based Tasks

  • Produce weekly staff timesheets
  • Advertisement of wood products online
  • Send out quotes for products
  • Regular update of training and competency spreadsheet
  • Authorise invoices, ordering of equipment and staff uniform
  • Update health and safety logs, including accidents and near misses
  • Any other duties deemed necessary by the Line Manager
