Thanks to grant funding from TK Maxx, Community Wood Recycling enterprises around the country have been hosting groups of school pupils, home educated children and cub scouts. These visits allow children to find out more about the importance of trees in our environment, how timber is used in the buildings we live in, and ways in which people can reuse wood that is being thrown away. We’re also giving them an insight into the items we make and the tools we use.
The grant has allowed us to develop a teachers and leaders pack and activities for visiting children including a design challenge, treasure hunt and word searches. Some of our members have also been able to offer practical activities, such as wood decoration and bird box making.
We are grateful to TK Maxx for their support for our work, and allowing us to teach the next generation about how we save resources and change lives.
