Celebrating partnership with Interserve in the North East

Community Wood Recycling Managing Director Richard Mehmed has been marking the milestone of 150 tonnes of wood picked up from Interserve’s Mount Oswald site in Durham. The team from Newcastle Wood Recycling have made over 80 collections, saving 90 tonnes of wood for reuse in their local community and ensuring everything else has been recycled by chipping.

This two-year project will provide a new college and more recreational facilities for students at Durham University. Richard Mehmed said

“We are delighted to be working to save waste wood from at the Mount Oswald site for reuse, and to be working with Interserve to build a circular economy.  Our partnership is helping Newcastle Wood Recycling to offer more training and volunteering opportunities at their wood store the Walker area of the city, where their local community face the challenge of living in one of the most deprived places in the country.”
