Celebrating the end of a successful project!

We were delighted to be asked by ISG plc to save the historic track of Manchester’s HSBC UK National Cycling Centre for reuse when it was replaced as part of the velodrome’s refurbishment.

Our Manchester wood recyclers Touchwood Emerge did a fantastic job of collecting the timber to fit in with a tight building schedule. They were particularly excited when cycling gold medallists Laura and Jason Kenny commissioned them to make them a table, and came to pick it up in person. Many of their customers from amateur cyclists to cafes are now enjoying owning a piece of cycling history.

We were able to meet up with the team from ISG together with their delivery partners at Manchester City Council, to thank them for their support for Community Wood Recycling and present them with a table made from the track and signed by Jason and Laura as a memento.

This project has enabled Touchwood Emerge to create a permanent part time job and to recruit more trainees, helping them with their mission to provide jobs and training for disadvantaged people and change lives.
