Personal Check List


Setting up and running any venture is extremely hard work and should not be entered into lightly. The following list of (hopefully) thought - provoking questions will help those interested in getting into community wood recycling to consider all the personal implications of such a move.

1. Are you prepared to work long hours and carry the stress and responsibility that goes with running a venture? YES…… NO…..

Is your partner/family supportive of what you want to do? YES…. NO….

3. Are you prepared to make the financial sacrifices often necessary to "run your own business"? YES…. NO….

4. Have you worked out what your minimum income needs are? YES…. NO….

5. Are you prepared to work some evenings and weekends if necessary? YES…. NO….

6. Are you physically fit and capable of lots of manual labour? YES…. NO….

7. Are you up for managing staff and volunteers - some of whom might have certain "baggage"? YES…. NO….

8. Could you provide leadership to a group of disparate individuals? YES…. NO….

9. Could you/learn to prepare and manage a budget? YES…. NO….

10. Are you willing to commit yourself to something that might not have many tangible rewards for a reasonably long period of time? YES…. NO….

11. Are you a self - starter? YES…. NO….

12. Are you a quitter or a sticker? YES…. NO….

13. Are you a good listener? YES…. NO….
